Boat Warranty Info.
Boat Sales – Important warranty information
If you have purchased your boat NEW from Young's Boat Yard, then it is covered for at least 12 months against all manufacturing defects.
Boats that are ‘used’ and purchased from our own stock are covered with an engine and drive warranty against major mechanical failure for the first 3 months from the date of invoice. This warranty does not cover any electrical, navigational equipment or trailers.
Boats purchased through our brokerage service have no warranty.
"The prospective purchaser of a boat listed on our brokerage service is strongly recommended to check the particulars and where appropriate, at his own expense, to employ qualified agents to carry out surveys, structural and/or mechanical & electrical."
The warranty is not applicable to serviceable items or wearing parts, ie. Filters, belts, props, impellers, batteries etc.
If a defect is found to be due to operator fault, then you will be subject to a parts and labour charge.
All warranty work must be instructed by Young’s Boat Yard. We will not pay any charges for work not authorised by ourselves.
In the event of a problem arising with your purchase, you should contact us via telephone, fax or e-mail with the details, including date of purchase and the nature of the problem. On receipt of this information we will assess whether your boat is covered.
After assessing what is and is not covered by the warranty we will then normally proceed to either:
- Send an engineer to the vessel to correct the fault – normally within 28 days of notification
- Ask you to get 2 quotes from local firms to rectify the faults
- Ask you to return the boat to our address where our own engineers will carry out the repairs.
NB. It is entirely the responsibility of the customer to pay for any tows, lifts, storage, mooring costs or transport to and from any authorised repair centre.
